Træ Er Miljø is The Danish Wood Initiative. Træ Er Miljø translates into Wood creates Environment.

Our aim is to increase the use of wood products.

Træ Er Miljø represents the entire wood chain, from forest to final product:

• Association of Danish Woodworking and Furniture Industries

• Danish Forest and Nature Agency
• Danish Forest Association
• Danish Sawmilling Industries Organisation
• Danish Timber Trade Federation
• Danish Timber Information
• Wood, Industry and Building Workers Union in Denmark
• Danish Timber & Building Merchants’ Trade Organisation.´

The website www.trae.dk aims to create awareness and knowledge of the environmental qualities of trees, whether they grow in forests or are used in industry, buildings and homes.

The website is in Danish and contains articles, links, specialist information, do-it-yourself tips and news on trees, forestry and the timber industry.

Træ Er Miljø is managed by a committee, consisting of members from the nine organisations.

Using wood to tackle climate change

In 2009 the eyes of the world will be on Copenhagen as the city hosts the United Nations Climate Conference - COP 15.

From 30 November to 11 December more than 8000 participants representing more than 170 countries will be in Denmark to set a new global climate agenda and wood will be part of it.

During the COP 15 we will:

• position wood as a versatile and sustainable resource
• influence the participants from the moment they arrive in Denmark
• profile wood as part of the solution to tackle climate change
• raise attention through exhibitions, happenings and spectacular events

for 12 days Copenhagen will be the wood capital of the world.
